The Council of Ontario Universities (COU) has welcomed Deborah MacLatchy, president and vice-chancellor of ³Ô¹ÏÍø, as its next vice-chair, effective July 1, 2025, for a two-year term.
Prior to being appointed as vice-chair of the COU, MacLatchy served in a number of governance capacities in the post-secondary sector, including chairing the Ontario University Athletics board, co-chairing the Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT) board, and serving as vice-chair of the Ontario Research and Education Network (ORION) board. She is currently a member of the Universities Canada board. MacLatchy holds an Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) designation, representing a lifelong commitment to excellence in the boardroom, and is an executive member of the Southwestern Ontario Chapter of the ICD.
In her role as vice-chair, MacLatchy will collaborate with university leaders, government and sector partners across Ontario to advance the COU’s collective goal of building a brighter future for students, communities and the province.
